Arthur Shondervurd and Cristofori Ensemble perform "Six" piano concerto by Beethoven on hammer libretto beginning of the XIX century and historical instruments.
The so-called FP. Concerto No. 6 (see cover) - it is arranged for piano and orchestra Violin Concerto op.61, made by Beethoven.
Hammerklavir, or Viennese piano - is not the harpsichord, but not piano. That's what the predecessor of modern piano and Beethoven wrote. From the usual piano, he has a number of structural and acoustic characteristics - a tool is smaller, pressing on the pedal by his knees, but - most importantly - thanks to a thin strings of leather and gavel hammerklavir sounds quieter and more melodic. The presence of hammerklavira obliges and soloists, and orchestra to a special discipline of sound, to show restraint and scant regard for the performing style pozdneklassicheskogo concertizing. I must say that in comparison with the brilliance of the concert or a romantic scale concert opus XX century, the style assumed a much more modest fruitiness, which does not hinder but to enjoy the works of Beethoven
From the review: "This recording of Beethoven piano concertos, of which any man accustomed to the way this music is usually heard today, recoil in utter astonishment. How, and this Beethoven? Where orchestral power, and a flaming piano sound!" Instead present a concert grand piano - polite sounding historical hammerklavira, the orchestra reduced to a tiny group which, even in tutti is never too loud. No, of course, not without reason: writing their own versions of Beethoven's concertos, the pianist Arthur Shondervurd comes not from general ideas about the historical performance, but from specific facts about the concert halls and those in which Beethoven's music was played for the first time. The credibility of the resulting reconstruction in the head level, believe me once, in order to accept her as a musical achievement that still requires a certain effort: to listen to a Beethoven course , nice and interesting, but it is rather pleasant working flawlessly antique mechanical toys.
